Woooo! Ramadan is here :D :D :D LOVE IT! Admittedly I get all hungry hippo and ratty during the day but when it comes down to actually eating, I feel very fortunate that I even have a scrap of food to put in my belly. Then I feel bad for being such a fat little ratty pants during my fast and remind myself that around the world there are others MUCH less fortunate than me. That always works, everytime without fail. It's very cliche but very true at the same time. Anyone who doesn't feel content and humbled by what they're blessed with when remembering those who have nothing, is a heartless loser. Period.
I got started on some couscous for s'hour! S'hour/s'hor is the period of time before fasting begins where you can gobble down some extra munch to keep you going for the day ahead, pray and go back to bed :] In our family back home, we always have mesfouf (which is couscous but the fine grain) either with peas and olive oil or sultanas and butter. We also have mint tea, some baklawa, samsa, aina/sweet meat (prunes with meat, apples and almonds in cinammon syrup), Loads more stuff that i'll post about as I'm making it :D
This is todays couscous, It was supposed to be mesfouf but I was ill prepared and only had medium grain couscous so I had to use that instead :/ Couscous is always good s'hour food because it's very light on the belly during those last hours.
I have a few more things to post about in the next few mins so I'm gonna put the rest of my B&J Cookie dough in the freezer, grab some strawberry ribena (all out of blackcurrant..meh) and get blogging :]
